Individual Programs ( "Layered" ) Approach to Security

From PCWiki

Best to AVOID ALL security suite(s); they are the jack-of-all-trades, master of possibly one component approach to security; most such suites are done by antiVIRUS companies and the AV component is usually average at best; their antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN components are average or below average, as is their firewall. Zone Alarm is known for good firewalls & the rest of its suite would be average or below average. Best to use the "Layered Approach", finding a very good program in EACH Malware-fighting category; I use this approach and use very good & FREE programs, such as Avast Antivirus Home Edition ( http://www.avast.com ), MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php ), SUPERAntiSpyware from [1] , SpywareBlaster from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com , a good & FREE firewall from [2] , ATF Cleaner from [3] ,

RootkitRevealer , Traceless , Cookiewall , Unlocker , etc .
